i went to McDonalds after school, as usual, to wait for my dad. *sighs*. the place was so crowded with students! no surprise. McDonalds Greenlane, most popular amongst students from schools namely PFS, CGL, SGGS, Georgetown and etc. students from these schools often come to McD to hang out, eat, wait for their rides and to past time, if there's any co-curricular activity. but over the years, this privilege had been abused. students no longer go there to eat, wait or do wateva that's good. students go there just to do nasty stuff. and i mean really nasty. for instance, when i was sitting there today, making the decision whether to eat or not to eat, while staring aimlessly outside, i realised some students form my school, the seniors, were smoking outside McD! i was like, dumbfounded. i despised smoking altho my dad's a smoker, i absolutely hate it! these students, if i'm not mistaken are only Form 5. and they're like, smoking they're asses off! oh my, i thought. this shouldn't be hapening. this is what the government's trying to stop and there, sitting there, puffing out circles of smoke, were students from my own school, a premiere school. the sight of it made me hurl. it seems to me that these students aren't aware of what they're putting themselves into. the only message i have in my mind about smoking is that, smoking kills. and i've always been afraid of that. i was devastated and disappointed as well, to see the young generation, well brought up and educated, to be practising this kind of activity. i can't do anything to stop them. all i can do is just pray that the Almighty might forgive what they've done. as if that's not enough! right after the bunch of smokers left the table, another group of students whom i recognised from the same form as mine occupied the same table quickly. and when i turned to look at them again (coz my seat was facing the outside, so there was nowhere else to look), to my horror, each of them took out cigarettes and started lighting them up with a match. oh my goodness. even 15 year olds, are smoking now? i asked myself. they looked pretty comfortable with the smoke surrounding them, and they seemed to have been doing this for a long time, which i think is probably true. they didn't even care about what others might think. the world is so screwed up, ain't it? i don't know whats up with males and smoking. maybe, they think that it might look cool, to be holdin a cigarette, puffin out smoke comfortably, coz at one point in my life, i actually thought that it looked pretty macho. but then, my perspective changed. come to think of it, that might be the only reason why they actually tried it besides being talked into by peers and friends. coz i don't think anyone in their rightful mind would actually puff smoke into their own body and destroying their life. i'm sure that those Form 3 students are aware of the consequences of smoking, coz we already learned about it this year in our Science! i felt, helpless. what changed the community so much?? it's not that those students aren't educated, their in one of the premiere schools in penang, for crying out loud! i reli felt that it was messed up. smoking is just like taking drugs. it becomes an addiction and later, it'll lead to drugs! don't they realise?? it might even cause deformalities on their future babies!! oh gosh... this would never happen in a perfect world!
besides that, students also gather at McD for gang fights. it almost happened once i think. it was like, attracting so much attention and the manager of McD was so alert. but i don't think anything happened. most of the time too, students who play truancy (which is no surprise by now) will always gather there after school. it seems to me, McD has been abused of it's usage. it's really sad to see all these bad stuff happen. but nevertheless, McD Greenlane is still the best (cleanest, i might say) McD branch in penang. they serve fresh food, and upkeep their place. good job. but students seem to be tearing it apart.
